Then a woman wearing men designed cycling shorts? I'm new to the bike and just bought a bike from my local bike shop. However, because my bike is in fact the mens version, the saddle becomes very uncomfortable for me to climb on. So I thought that investing in a pair of padded cycling shorts help solve the problem.
Unfortunately, not much research on cycling shorts in advance, I bought a pair of cycling shorts Cannondale that was designed for men. When I did some research on the site later, I realized that Cannondale made shorts for men and women version.
Now I'm not sure if I should try to exchange the shorts for the version of the woman or should I just stick with the version of the mens' which correspond quite ok for me. My main concern is the chamois different form for men and women.
Is this a big problem if a woman carries a male-version of cycling shorts? Will I receive the right amount of protection and comfort when you ride?
Please help and thanks in advance for your answers!
Firstly, I do not think you can exchange a short bike because of the issue of hygiene (such as the return of underwear). Hopefully the store will bring them back, but they can not / must not be resold.
For the best lap, make sure you have a saddle that fits you well. Most good bike shops can help you find a saddle that improves following your particular concern. Keep in mind that when you try a saddle and even ride a bit, it should be comfortable with or without padded shorts. The films will with a little comfort in the long term, but it does not cure the fundamental problems that you may have with the saddle.
Shorts side, make sure you invest in a saddle of women of good quality. Even a good pair of shorts will not do for a saddle that does not suit you.
If you can not exchange the shorts for women, I certainly would.
As you are new to the sport, please note that there are tons of products made just for women by all major manufacturers of bicycle. Check www.teamestrogen.com www.terrybicycles.com and for some examples of sites that sell products mainly women.
The world of fashion is actually quite unfair. It is still ok for women to wear men's clothing-version (such as pants, shorts, etc..) However, the reverse can not be said okay, for example. men wearing women's clothing-version as shorts, tights, gym or even support tights (although now there is a male version of support tights, thanks to Comfilon or ActivSkin).
In this case, cycling shorts are actually pretty unisex. Make sure you get the right size for comfort.
