Cleveland Cavaliers Tickets The Cleveland Cavaliers are a basketball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They started playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1970 an expansion team. The team is also known as the Cavs. The original logo was used Cavs 1970-83.
Franchise history:
The Cavaliers began play in the NBA in 1970, an expansion team. Nick Mileti was the owner of the team at this time. The team compiled a league worst 15-67 record by playing their home games at Cleveland Arena under the direction of head coach Bill Fitch.

Cleveland improved to 23-59 in their second season, followed by a 32-50 record in 1972-73, and a small step back to 29-53 in 1973-74.
The Cavaliers moved into the newly Richfield Coliseum in 1974. It is located in the cornfields thirty miles south of downtown Cleveland in Summit County. The Cavaliers finished the season with a 40-42 record down a little less than a playoff spot.
In the 1975-76 season, Fitch led the Cavaliers to a 49-33 record with Carr, Smith, Chon, Snyder, and newly acquired Nate Thurmond. It is their only division title to date. As the Cavs made their first appearance in the playoffs, Fitch was honored with the league's coach of the year.
The Cavs were able to win the series against the Washington Bullets, 4-3. The series is remembered locally as the "Miracle of Richfield." Because of the heroism of many plans at the last second.
