Fishing equipment is specially designed shoes used for many types of dance. They are soft shoes similar to ballet shoes. They are used by women in the Irish dance by men in Scottish Country Dance, and by men and women in Highland Dance.

They are usually full heels, although some manufacturers do not provide Ghillies split sole. The most common color of fishing tackle are black, although officials offer other colors like red, green and white. Tackle white can be dyed different colors to use for costumes specially choreographed dances.

Scottish fishing articles are used by men and women for Highland Dancing, and by men for Scottish Country Dancing [2]. They are almost always black, but they can often stitching and eyelets. Tackle Highland generally need to be a little larger than the foot, due to be worn with thick socks or hose.

In a perhaps more recent and certainly competing shoe-related use, Ghillie was also used to describe shoes that laced rings or loops of the project on the tongue are attached to the top as an alternative to the use of grommets drilled in the upper part, which style is often seen on sports shoes.
