Some questions for breastfeeding mothers ... Re: flight, hunger, sleepiness (sorry, long post!)? Hello fellow mums ...
I have some questions that might seem absurd to you guys, but I have a daughter who is 4.5 now, and was strictly formula-fed ... So now, with my baby 2, this thing is really breastfeeding foreign and confusing time for me. Also, my mother did not breastfeed, I have no sisters to guide me in the right direction, and not a lot of my friends from the nurse or another (in fact, most do not even no kids yet!) So I'm not really sure who to ask what kind of things a little ....?
Anyway - my son was not gaining weight in my breast milk first if her pediatrician almost insisted that I complete the formula, to my dismay. I had worked so hard to breastfeeding at that time I was really ticked I could not stay with her alone - and the doc (who had encouraged him to start SOOO much!) Was now not support me. We had to do what was best for the child, right? And the poor had increased from 6 lbs. 4 oz (birth weight) to 5 lbs. 5 oz in six days, while they were hospitalized for testing if we could not "IM in the next two days - and hubster & I were desperate to avoid that if we could, of course. (And thank you God, on his return two days later he had risen to 7 ounces and in good health after the other side of the next week, has been growing since.) Phew!
And you know, it happens that I do not mind filling that very much. It allows my husband to help, but I do not have to pack bottles or moving bed in the middle of the night so I will not because he likes to eat as much as he loves the bottle. The baby, I mean. This is not my husband, ha ha. (Although I doubt he would object much these days because he feels terribly "neglected", lol. And then, he has no stitches or HIS goodies, so be it, buddy !) :-)
Anyway ... As it turns out, nursing seems to be more comfortable "thing for the baby. It soothes the right to sleep, so he usually nurses before nap (which is great because it is not entirely been a month yet) and bedtime. Or if it has been cranky and uncomfortable for some reason (which seems to be too much. Bougre is certainly fussier than our first!)
We just received a breast pump a few days ago, and since I'm still a little good milk production, and have not really dried up at all, I intend to try to replace some of formula meal with expressed breast milk to see if it will still calories he needs to keep winning. (Because, as I said earlier, it is back on track thanks again to the formula - and more than 7 lbs.)
That being said, now that you know our history "and how many times I treat ... When can I stop wearing those stupid breast pads in my bra? I live in a very small town and I went to five different stores before birth to buying a nursing bra and not one that has all (ridiculous, is not it?) I wanted to get some line but not before his arrival because he ended up being induced early ... Thus, in a pinch, I tried to wear a sports bra (which opens in front), and I ended up really liking ..... not sure I want or even need to spend so much? I'm as big breasts, and they provide "ample" support (no pun intended) ;-) And because the pressures are on the front, they keep things simple for feedings.
Maybe it's different for everyone, and maybe its because we are not necessarily a nurse "calendar" yet, but breastfeeding is something I have to wear for the duration of the breastfeeding? Either spontaneous leak (fountains!) Stop in time? (It.
