These engines have been the basis of modern family planning II. Configuration has been limited to a single head on Cam 2 valves per cylinder (8 total valves). The 20NE served basis, which later evolved II family of engines.

A derivative of South Africa 20SEH engine was used until 1999 in the models of the Astra Kadett / containing 10:1 compression and a Bosch Motronic 1.5.4 engine management system. City power was 95 kW (129 PS, 127 hp) and 180 Nm (130 lbft) of torque.

The atmospheric release valve 16, the 2.0 L 1998 cc (121.9 cu in) engine block ast iron is the successor to the OHC-engines and a predecessor to the 16-valve Ecotec engine line .
This show will feature the same block as the OHC engines base with a 86 mm (3.4 in) bore and stroke and a Cosworth developed DOHC cylinder head (Cosworth Project KB). The cylinder heads were manufactured by one or Cosworth at a latter date, Kolbenschmidt. In general, the leaders of this range are said to flow better than their successors appreciabl Ecotec. Power output is rated at 110 kW (150 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm at 4600 rpm (C20XE) or 156 hp (20XE).
