I need cycling gear, winter, what should i wear? So I joined this club that runs every Saturday ... being a poor student i cannot afford an elite cycling equipment winter. I have bike shorts and a jersey for the summer.
What can I use alternatives for the bike in winter?
Its almost spring btw thats why I think cycling equipment, buying winter is now a waste of money
Thank you Kerry
Under 40F, put your shorts under a pair of sweatpants, If it is really cold, add a layer with a wind pants. Use a chain pulling or old shoelace to raise the legs together to prevent them from obtaining the chain.
wool socks help. If it's cold, you can put plastic grocery bags over your socks inside your shoes and cut the excess. It works in the rain, too.
Use your jersey was as a base layer and put a wool sweater over her (again in 40F weather) a windproof shell that keeps you more good all day. A sweatshirt is hot real but all cotton - holds moisture - good for short trips only.
Get a helmet liner for an army surplus store for $ 5. They are the same as those of the bike shop without the trademark logo silk screened.
long finger gloves. Something with Thinsulate if it is cold reality. 35 -40 degrees, you can wear a pair of batting gloves (no padding) and you can buy cheap knit gloves to wear over them if necessary.
If you think of layers, you can dress cheaply for riding. Have a bag on the bike and you can throw as the day warms up a bit. Sometimes the wind will just make you sweat to death, even in the cold. So if you start to shed a layer heated. You can always put it back on if it cools down. The conditions changed a lot in winter.
If you can afford it or find another sale - Under Armour (or Nike) Cold Gear is fantastic. It's so hot, I do not wear it unless it is under 40F. They have long sleeve tops and tights, you can wear over your shorts. Wear your tights shorts where the sun rises and it rises in the 50s and you pour sticky and still have the horse on shorts.
It has always been cycling in the cold - before cycling specific clothing obtained from the market.
I spent a miserable winter and I have a word
Polypropelene
Wicks sweat and keeps you warm even when wet. Do not dress.
Now is the perfect time to buy winter clothes ... for next year.
At the very least, that's what I recommend for cool / cold riding:
1 - Headlines
2 - mid-length breeches (your calves)
3 - full-fingered gloves or lobster-claw
4-1 winter coat reasonable
Headlines are cheap, gloves and full fingerd ($ 60.00 for both. Cheaper online).
Knickers are a good bet later in the spring. Even with the winter coat. A good place to look is Overstock.com as they have goods is interrupted you can buy for a price reasonble.
try to find an old / used wool jersey!
Wool will keep you warm and dry, and you can wear in hot weather too!
otherwise I would just take a regular windbreaker / jacket over your shirt and you're ready to go.
also, you can cut leggings women to arm warmers /! (That's what I did)
I have two links that helped me in college:

Buy things like leggings and arm. You can peel them and keep them in your jersey pockets if it warms up as you drive. I use the Performance Bike brand heater arm and leg warmers. They are also cheap, comfortable and durable than my dearest Pearl Izumi. When it is hot, put th.
